THE GUILDED DOVE

I looked unto the hills
And my spirit sailed the seas
Then walked the steaming desert
And so softly rustled trees

More than mind was searching
O'er the universe so vast
To find the Truth you promised, Lord
To set me free at last

I peered into hungry eyes
I felt a broken heart
Spoke softly to the angry
Then a voice said, "Don't depart...

Don't leave until you bring them Bread
And help mend hearts so sore
Bring healing and bring hope, my child
Point the dying to the Door"

Set me free, Lord, set me free
May truth from wisdom stem
Bring freedom as I walk this earth
And fellowship with man

There's a Guilded Dove inside
That yearns to spread His wings
To soar above the world so high
And teach lost souls to sing

So I visited the homeless
The oppressed and the weary
I gave no thought to what I'd say
For You spoke through me clearly

I prayed for children, felt their need
I cried out for the lost
I prayed You'd comfort and protect
I sacrificed the cost

Then living waters drenched my thirst
And calmed all fears and strife
A well of water springing up
Brought everlasting life

The commandments God called "Greatest"
Were to love God with our all
To love our neighbor as ourselves
Hold them up that they don't fall

And then I realized at last
When I had died to me
Love calmed my brand new spirit
For the Son had set me free

John 4:13,14

Jesus answered and said unto her....
Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again;
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give
him shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall be in him
a well of water springing into everlasting life.
